I think it's very interesting to see what's NOT selling out at my grocery store.

Beer and alcohol is way overstocked, which is interesting because people joked that everyone would be drinking more. People are also avoiding junk food, candy and sodas, which is more restraint than I'd expect from the public. Hell, I see people buying 30 bottles of Coca-Cola on normal days.

For some reason breakfast foods were still stocked well. I don't really understand that. Even if it was a "perishable" thing that still didn't stop people from hoard-buying bread and milk (I saw a guy with seven loaves of bread in his cart, wonder what he's going to do with them). The canned vegetables aisle was mostly cleaned out except for a few hilariously notable exceptions. I guess even in a pandemic no one wants to eat canned spinach...

All the enemy positioning and all of the places your Avatar lands after a jump or ramp are still laid out in a way that implies you should still have a boost. If you don't have a boost then why didn't they put one of these other action on square? Why does Square do nothing?

I mean the flamethrower just deletes everything as long as you hold it down. You can do it while running and still blow up everything. Square is for tag stages.

Paleyfest got postponed which is kind of a bummer since I was going to see The Mandalorian. I know a lot of people who are going to lose a lot of money on that decision.

Disneyland is still open despite the ban on large gatherings due to "special circumstances". I believe those circumstances are "it makes us a lot of money".

It sucks, but it's necessary. Some pain early (and really not early enough) is better than more pain later.

The sad thing is I can see this ending in two ways. If these measures work and help slow down the infection so it's not a major problem, then people will just complain about having to miss out on their favorite events "over nothing" not realizing how much in effect it had. If they don't work and we end up in a lockdown type situation then people will just complain that it didn't do anything even if it did help mitigate some of the damage. People in general don't really appreciate the value of prevention because it's not obvious the good that it does.

Just saw it and... it was actually pretty good! It was never going to be one of Pixar's best, but it was a lot of fun! I really liked the story, and if you're a fantasy / DnD nerd it has a fairly interesting comedic story in that style.

I think the main thing that put people off the trailers was that it looked like a typical Dreamworks-style "Hey, lets take this setting and put a bunch of dumb modern references in it". But aside from a few gags here and there it doesn't lean too heavily on that. Instead the main justification for the setting is to show how magic and old fantasy elements clash with the modern day when they're reintroduced, and the fantasy story holds up nicely on its own. I really liked what they did in that regard, and while it wasn't amazing it was still a pretty good movie. I'd recommend it.

I think because of where I live, where I work, and how I live I'm pretty much guaranteed to get it if it spreads here.
